"Temples are places of personal revelation. When I have been weighed down by a problem or a difficulty, I have gone to the House of the Lord with a prayer in my heart for answers. The answers have come in clear and unmistakable ways."
Ezra Taft Benson
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints go to the Temple to receive revelation, make sacred covenants and seal families for eternity.
On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Tacoma Washington Temple at the October 2022 General Conference. It is the fifth temple announced for the state of Washington, situated in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Missionaries first arrived in Washington in 1854. Today, the state is home to more than 280,000 Latter-day Saints in nearly 525 congregations. Other temples in the state at the time of the announcement included the Columbia River Washington Temple, Moses Lake Washington Temple, Seattle Washington Temple, and Spokane Washington Temple.3
